Monster Greetings to You!!

Hello, so I love Halloween ... that's no secret! If you've read any of my blog posts or know me at all, you'll know that I'm mildly obsessed! I was looking at my lovely Halloween stamps sitting on my shelf all sad that they are not being used so I took them out to play.

I just had to stamp my favourite little skeleton and monster from the Freaky Friends stamp set. I didn't want to make the card all depressing, so I stamped and die cut a holiday house coloured with Blendabilities, and stamped Santa and his reindeer image along with some holiday trees and snowflakes from the Holiday home set.

I stamped, coloured and cut out some Santa hats from the Get your Santa on... to make my "monsters" festive. My sentiments are a combination of Ghoulish Greetings, Festival of Trees and one I created with the Alphabet Rotary set "MONSTER".

Who says Halloween can't be infused into Christmas? Look at the Nightmare before Christmas... one of my favourite movies, a great infusion of the two holidays. I hope you like it :)

A Festival of Trees full of JOY and Sparkles!

Hello... I have not one, but two pretty and sparkly cards to share today. What could be better?! I can't seem to ever get tired of glittering up my projects! I was playing around with the Star Confetti Border Punch, and I saw my Tree punch and... the light bulb went off! I punched the tree over part of the border of punched stars.

I thought it would look nice layered over a piece of gold glimmer paper... I decided to use Blackberry Bliss for my background colour, it looks so striking with the mix of gold and white. Very crisp and clean. I added a couple of strips of gold on either side of the white strip for some more sparkle.

My background Blackberry Bliss was embossed with the "On Point" textured impressions embossing folder - since it coordinated perfectly with the tree punch. This is one of my favourite cards that I made this season!

Since I really liked how the first card turned out, so pretty and sparkly... I decided to make another but change up the colours and style a bit. I used Pacific Point and Whisper White this time with some Silver glimmer added for the sparkle. I stamped the background with the snowflake image from the Holiday home stamp set in both Pacific Point and Soft Sky classic inks. I punched a 3 trees using Silver Glimmer paper to mat under my Pacific Point Trees with the stars punched out. I tore some Whisper White cardstock to make "snow" at the bottom of my card to place my 3 trees onto. I added some Dazzling Details to make the snow glistening... it's a super sparkly card - I love it!

Here's a close up of the pretty, sparkly trees. A nice pop of silver sparkles! Well, I hope you like my share and will give this fun idea a try... enjoy the rest of your weekend, I'm off to work!! See you tomorrow with some more Christmas projects :)

Simple Holiday Boxes & Tags

Hi there... do you need some ideas for quick boxes or tags for your holiday gatherings? Well, I have some easy to create samples to share. With the Gift Box Punch board it's super easy to create boxes in a matter of minutes. I made the smallest box (a 1.75x1.75") final box. Simply follow the score lines indicated for your paper size, mine was a 6x6" square to begin with. I cut some simple layers 1/8" smaller, then some Trim the Tree designer series paper and a die cut glimmer star.

It looks so tiny far away.. well, it is pretty tiny - but oh so cute! It could hold a bunch of chocolates or some earrings. A pretty package, if I do say myself!

I used the Christmas Tagables Photopolymer stamp set. This set is available online and not shown in any catalogue. I got it last year - it's got some really great sayings perfect for tags (item # 134623). A couple of them can be perfectly punched out with the Mr. Hexagon punch too... no coincidence why I like this set!?

This time I've got a wine tag... it could be used for a sparkling cider. It jazzes up your gift a little bit. I cut a strip of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, 3" wide and you could use many different lengths depending on the size of bottle. I scored it at 1-1/2" and punched a 1-3/8" circle in the center (I just eyeballed it). Then decorate as desired... these really take no time at all to make a bunch for your holiday gift giving.

This type of box/bag, not sure which category it falls under is so simple to make and can be done in a variety of sizes. I've been making these for many years, since they are so simple and need no measurements or cutting if you didn't want to. Super easy. For my samples, I chose to make a 6-1/2"x4-1/2" size, since that is the size of the paper in the Trim the Tree designer series paper stack. I love, love those paper stacks - so perfect for many things!!! All you do to make these "sour cream containers" as they are called is to add some sticky strip adhesive to one end. Make a tube, then put another piece in the opening of one end to seal the bottom. I leave the top open to put my treats in (in this case some yummy peppermint chocolates!) but I punch a hole and tie closed with a ribbon. For the top opening, you want to seal your container the opposite way of the bottom. I added a simple 2" circle tag using the Mingle All the Way stamp. Very simple to mass produce a bunch of these adorable boxes!!!

I hope you have enjoyed my shares today, and will try to make some of these cuties for yourself - they are super easy... I promise. Have a super Saturday, I'm off to work!

Homemade Holiday Candy Santa Jelly Bean Jars!

Happy Friday!!! I have another fun share for you... it took no time at all to whip up a bunch of these cute little guys! Perfect for little hostess gifts, stocking stuffers or nice gifts for dinner guests. I bought these cute little plastic jars from the dollar store, they are so perfect for these adorable Santa's!

I cut a 3" strip of Real Red Cardstock, cut a 3/4" wide piece of Whisper White and a 1/2" strip for his belt. The buckle is made using the Petite Curly Label Punch and for the center I had some square jewels. I added a 1-3/8" punched circle to the top and a pompom. I added some fun trim to one. To finish I wrapped some Whisper White Baker's Twine around the jar and a cute tag. I filled the jars with Red & Green jelly beans! Cute and festive gifts to give. I hope you like my share, have super day!

Sneak peek... Sheltering Tree is a stunner!

So, today I have a sneak peek for you of one of the NEW sets available for purchase starting on January 6th!! It's called 'Sheltering Tree'. Let me say how pretty this set is - it's one of the best sets that I've seen for a while and it would work for so many occasions, plus feminine and masculine cards! When I designed this card I wanted to avoid all the "white stuff" that's been falling outside by creating a spring themed card. I love the spring, I wish it was here instead of winter... but it can be spring in my craft room!

I started by stamping two trees using Early Espresso ink. I then made my grass hills with Pear Pizzazz, Wild Wasabi and Old Olive inks, then added some pretty blossoms with Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe and some hints of green with Pear Pizzazz peeking through. I added a swing to one of my trees and a sentiment thinking of you to the bottom and finished by adding some Dazzling Details glitter to my hilly grass and blossoms!

Can you believe there are no layers? No dimensionals?

Isn't it pretty?!? I love how it turned out, I hope you like it too!

Fun & Festive Holiday Tags!

Hi there... I have some fun tags to share today using a variety of products from the Holiday catalogue! The first one is featuring the 'Santa Stache' stamp set. I just love this set, it was on my first order when the catalogue became available to order. I'm a sucker for humourous cards - what can I say?!!

I started by stamping, then fussy cutting this cute Santa out. I could have left his beard white, but I decided to colour it with Smoky Slate. I cut a 2" X 3" strip of Whisper White and punched the top with the Scallop tag topper punch. I took a piece of White organza ribbon, and coloured it with one of my Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities markers - yes, you can colour ribbon! How great is that to perfectly coordinate!! I tied a piece of Gold Baker's Twine around the base of the ribbon to connect them together to the tag - then added a strip of Garden Green cardstock with one of the stamped sentiments from the same set, some Gold Glimmer paper and a strip of Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper. I added the cute Santa with a Dimensional, a perfect addition to any gift!

The second tag, I saw one on Pinterest and it was just so stinkin' cute I had to make some for myself. I used the 'Gift Bow Bigz Die', the largest piece for his mustache, the tails for his beard. His face is made with the Extra Large Oval punch, his nose is punched with the 1/2" circle. I made the hat by making a triangle with my paper trimmer, then adding a strip of white for the trim... I added some googly eyes for added whimsy! I think he's just adorable, don't you??!

Third is a MERRY tag... very simple to mass produce a bunch of these babies!! I used the notetag punch and Lost Lagoon cardstock for my base. The MERRY is from the Cheerful Tags set, punched out with the Large Oval and matted onto a piece of Coastal Cabana punched with the Scalloped Oval. I added some 1/8" Gold Ribbon and Gold Glimmer paper for some sparkle!

Fourth I have a Merry Little Wish... another simple tag or embellishment for a card. I stamped a tree image from Festival of Trees, punched out around the image with the 2-1/2" Circle. Then punched a tree out of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock, then punched a 2-1/2" Circle around the tree. I punched a hole a the top of the back piece to tie my twine through, then added dimensionals to the Brown sugar piece so the stamped image is inset. Then stamped the sentiment, punched with the word window and matted to the modern label. Added a glimmer star and some sequins to finish! Cute :)

Lastly, I cut a 2" strip of Blackberry Bliss and using the Angle tag topper to cut the top. I put a piece of Silver Satin ribbon through the top and tied some white twine around it. I cut a layer of designer series paper from the Moonlight stack, stamped the sentiment from the Wondrous Wreath set and punched it out with the 2" circle punch. I made a silver glimmer star frame as a mat behind the sentiment. To add another 'pop' of colour, I punched a Blackberry Bliss tree out! A nice topper for a gift!

I hope you liked my tags share, and be sure to check back tomorrow for a sneak peek project from the upcoming Occasions catalogue!!

Festive Trees for a Festive Occasion

Happy Monday?! Not sure about that one, but I'm going with it anyways :)

I had a fun weekend, both at work and after work. First at work, I do recreation therapy at a retirement home and was teaching a craft class - paper tole. I used the Joyful Christmas from last years' holiday catalogue, one of my all-time fav's stamps is the poinsettia image. Our residents just loved the final project - and they all turned out different but fabulous!! There is no right or wrong with arts and crafts, you can always adapt and improvise so everyone is happy with their final project... I love when everyone is happy :)

My upline, Jenn had her monthly drop-in for her downline. It's a day I look forward to... since it's a time to just "play" to design new stuff, experiment with new stamps and products. Something I've been lacking the last few months. She had her pre-order goodies, and I got to try them all out. I made a bunch of new cards, and tried stamp sets that I didn't order. I will of course now have to have those too as I could see the possibilities more after taking them for a test drive. I should have known that was going to happen, it always does with a new catalogue!!

Yesterday, we had our monthly art class where an art teacher comes in to teach us a new art skill. We learned how to use watercolour pencils. I myself, had previously dabbled with these pencils... but the teacher gave a new spin on what I'd previously done. I love learning new things!! After work, I prepped for my Holiday Jingle and Mingle all the Way get together I'm having tomorrow for my stamping friends! A free gathering with games and make n' takes, my thank you to them :) Should be a fun time.

For today, I have a card made with one of my favourite stamp sets... the festival of trees. I think this set of stamps is so awesome and very easy to produce a bunch of cards quickly too. I started with a garden green base, added a whisper white layer, which I embossed with the decorative dots embossing folder. Then I added a piece of basic black with a piece of venitian crochet trim to the bottom, then added my trees. I used my favourite of the tree stamped images, then finished with some frosted sequins and gold glimmer stars! I hope you like it and have a super day :)

Age Awareness = fun Birthday cards!

So a couple of months ago I did a presentation for "Subway Art". I made a bunch of samples and today I'm sharing two of them... let me tell you I made a lot, I mean A LOT of samples as I had so much fun with this technique. For the first sample, I covered a large clear acrylic block with stamps from the Age Awareness stamp set in a rectangular pattern. Inked up my stamps and stamped the entire thing all at once. If you wanted to make duplicates, just stamp a bunch before removing the stamps from the block. It give the look of a lot of stamping, but it's only stamped once. Then since it was so big, I didn't add too many layers or embellishments since the focus is the stamped images anyways.

For my second share, this was one of the pieces from my initial demo where I had a medium sized block and covered it with stamps to show how easy it is to do this technique. I had a bunch left over, so rather than waste them I made a bunch of quick cards like the one below. I added some layers, some DSP, Baker's Twine and a silver metal button. Not too much, just enough to finish the card nicely. I hope you like my shares, and will try this fun technique out for yourself. Have a wonderful day :)

Grafitti Framed Art

Hi there! So I realize that it's almost Christmas, with all the "white stuff" that got dumped on us the other day it's even more apparent. But, anyone who knows me, knows my favourite holiday is Halloween. I made this fun framed art piece a few months ago, but forgot to share it. Besides any excuse to talk about halloween and ignore the yuckiness outside ;)

I used My Digital Studio by Stampin' Up! to make my piece. I chose a variety of Halloween digital images and using the "Subway Art/Grafitti Art" styling to layout my stamped images. I really love this look for projects. I decided to try printing on an iron-on transfer sheet - to do this you have to print your images in the reverse, otherwise your image will be backwards. For stamped images that would probably work, but words... not so much. I used a linen material that I got from a local fabric store... man are those places dangerous places to go to! Not only do they sell fabrics, but beads, home decor, craft supplies... too much loveliness. It was a good thing I went solo, my husband would not have liked to spend two hours in the fabric store! I got some great deals on Halloween fabrics, since they were bringing all the Christmas ones out and needed the space, score for me!!

Anyhoo... as my first attempt with the iron-on transfer sheets - maybe it was my iron, not sure exactly how long to leave the iron on... it wasn't perfect in the corners. But it was okay since it's Halloween and it works. When I tried to put it in the frame it wasn't cooperating either... it wouldn't lay completely flat even though I did iron it. But again, it's Halloween and I thought it suited it so I let it be! It is proudly displayed on my gallery wall! I hope you like my share, you could try it for a different occasion also... have a great day!

Bright and Beautiful Stars

Hello... we just got a dumping of the "white stuff" - somebody's been throwing that "S" word around again...lol! For today, I have a pretty, but would work for as a masculine card too... I will admit that I didn't think I'd use this set (the Bright & Beautiful set) as much as I do - then I opened it and started creating and I was hooked!! It's actually one of my most used sets from the holiday catalogue. I decided to buy it back in August when it was on for a bundle special - I'm glad I did. Not only did I save money, but it's so beautiful that I so many compliments on projects I create with this set.

I started with a card base of Lost Lagoon, then I made a bunch of layers. First was Whisper White, then Baked Brown Sugar (which I embossed with the Decorative Dots TIEF). I stamped the largest star with Lost Lagoon onto Lost Lagoon cardstock. I stamped the second in versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder. Lastly, I stamped Baked Brown Sugar and using the stars framelits dies easily cut them all out. I added a Baked Brown Sugar star to the center of the star for a bit of shine. The star is attached to an Oval diecut - the middle layer is popped up on a dimensional. I stamped the "Shine", "Joy" and "Noel" sentiments and punched them out with the Banner Punch and placed a small portion of the banner under the oval. I hope you like it and have a beautiful day, even with the white stuff :)

Trim the Tree meets Holiday Home!

Hello... man was yesterday a super busy one! I was out and about almost the entire day, then I had a class to teach!! Ah, well I did it - and the class was so much fun. We created boxes, bags and tags... and lots of them - about 20 projects!

For today, I have a card that I got the inspiration from pinterest - one of Stampin' Up!s Artisan Design member, Inge Groot. I absolutely loved her card, that I just had to make one for myself. I did change it somewhat, as I didn't want to make an exact copy. There are a lot of talented ladies on the team, I admire their talents. I chose to go with Baked Brown Sugar for my base, with Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake and Garden Green Layers. It's really quite a simple card to make, once you have all the pieces cut it's easy peasy to make a bunch of them! The Santa and houses are from the Holiday Home set, a favourite of mine as it is great for many different occasions (especially Halloween, my personal fav!). I think I can squeeze in some stamping time for myself today before I leave for work... well at least to clean up some of my mess from last night........ I hope you like my adaptation, have an awesome day!!!

Endless Wishes = endless beautiful holiday cards!

Hello.. I remember last fall when the "Endless Wishes" stamp set was released. That was back when they only had clear and wood mount options in the catalogues. I bought it almost immediately, and just as quickly it sold out. I was pleased to hear that it would be back in this years' holiday catalogue.

I just love the scripted writing along with the typed text - it makes a nice contrast on your projects. Plus the 3 lovely snowflake images too. It doesn't take much to make a card look stunning with this set, it's a no brainer!! For my card today, I chose Coastal Cabana and Lost Lagoon for my colour combo. I seem to be using those two colours a lot lately! I stamped one of the large snowflakes in Bermuda Bay ink, the medium one in Lost Lagoon and 3 small ones with Coastal Cabana. I also integrated the scripted and typed text greetings to make "very merry Christmas to you". I just love that you can make the greeting so many different things - so customizable. I added a piece of 1/8" Silver ribbon and some Frosted Sequins, In-Colour Sequins, and Rhinestones for some sparkle... not that the stamped images don't do that on their own! I hope you like my card, have a super day :)

Festive Trees make a Merry Christmas

Happy Monday?! Hopefully it is, I've got a lot to do today before I head off to work... always the procrastinator - I wish they had a pill for that! So, I'm going to make today's post short and sweet so I can get to it!!

Today's card is really quite simple to make. I used the Decorative Mask from the Hearts & Stars. I used the same colour ink as my cardstock layer - Cherry Cobbler for a tone-on-tone look. I stamped the trees from the Festival of Trees set - the one with the ornaments. It's a pretty 2-step stamp set. I used Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler ink - it's hard to see in the photo but I added some silver Dazzling Details to the remaining white spaces to look like ornaments. I stamped the cardinal and fussy cut him out, then punched out some Gold Glimmer stars for the tops to my trees. Before assembling the entire card, I first stamped the sentiment "Merry Christmas" at the bottom from the Sassy Salutations set using Black ink. The first tree fit nicely into the gap right above the "r" in the Christmas. I spritzed the whole card with Vanilla Smooch Spritz to add some shimmer. Well, that's it for today, I hope you enjoy your day!!

Cardinal Christmas Wishes

Just home from a busy day at work. My share for today is a pretty card that I made for my Stamp-a-stack at the end of November. I used the "Beauty of the Season" stamp set, I think this stamp set is so stunning that it doesn't need much else to make it stand out!

I stamped the largest image using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and coloured the Bird, branch and berries in with Blendabilities markers. I diecut using the Labels Framelits Dies. I cut a piece of Garden Green and embossed with the Woodgrain design, then cut a piece of the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper - I really like the striped one. However, I did use a variety of the patterns and they all looked great (you can see them below). I wrapped some Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine twice around the entire card - right where the two papers join to seemlessly connect them! Then to finish, I stamped the "Christmas Wishes" sentiment on a 1/2" strip of Whisper White and flagged the ends with my hexagon punch... oh, how I love that punch! I just love that you only need one stamp set to create a bunch of stunning holiday cards! I hope you like my card, and have yourself a terrific weekend!

Bright & Beautiful Festive Tree Background

Good morning! Yesterday at my work we had our annual Family Christmas dinner - so I was pretty much running around in circles all day... but it was nice to see all our residents family & friends!

I got to see the upcoming Occasions catalogue and Sale-a-bration brochure starting today!! Let me tell you, that the products are simply fabulous... I want almost everything, some more than one! The SAB items are the best yet (my opinion, of course!) Another great thing is that both catalogues start on the same day (previously SAB started at the end of January). As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I got the opportunity to pre-order from the Occasions catalogue starting today - it's my early Christmas gifts to myself (aren't I kind?!) So many awesome items to choose from, but I have to pace myself this close to Christmas.

For today, I have a pretty card to share. It features two of my favourite Christmas items - the Festival of Trees and Bright & Beautfiul stamp sets. You're probably wondering where the trees are?!!! Well, since it's a photopolymer stamp set - it's super easy to align your images perfectly! I was able to seemlessly make the floral tree into a stunning background - and it didn't take a ton of time (a few minutes!) It really does make a beautiful background - I had a big space in the middle - so what better than a couple of Bright & Beautiful stars?! I added some sparkle and shine with some Gold Glimmer paper, Frosted Sequins and Rhinestone Basic Jewels! It's hard to see the words in the photo, but I stamped the sentiment from Festival of Trees in a row repeatedly until the words went right off the Coastal Cabana layer - lots of tone on tone for this card. I hope you like my share :)

Endless Wishes Tree

Hi there! I made this card a while back... in the summer! It's really quite simple to create this type of card if you want it to be. I thought I'd make a "tree" shape with the words from the Endless Wishes photopolymer stamp set. You could try to make another shape too!! I simply started by aligning the stamps onto the block then you simply stamp the entire set of stamps (you're essentially making a new-larger stamp). You can stamp a bunch of these and use them later - that way you can use your stamp set for another project!

This type of stamp works perfectly for this type of card since the words/images can be perfectly aligned to the clear acrylic block. The great thing about this technique, is that you don't need a lot of "extras" to make it special. It gives the recipient the illusion that you stamped each word individually, shhh... you can keep that as your little secret. I hope you like my share, have a great day :)

'Tis the Season for Many Merry Stars!

Hello... today is officially the last day to order items from the Online Extravaganza at up to 50% off. Sadly, some items are already sold out. You can still get them, but at the regular price! I will be getting all my new toys tomorrow.... I can't wait..... eeekkkkk!! The Blendabilities door crasher from yesterday sold out in an hour... not that I'm surprised, 30% off the entire collection was a pretty sweet deal!

My share today is featuring the 'Many Merry Stars' photopolymer set available in the Holiday Supplement brochure. I started just playing and this is what I came up with!

I randomly stamped the outline dotted star with Baked Brown Sugar ink, then I stamped the striped outline star using Lost Lagoon ink inside each of the dotted stars. Then I stamped the snowflake/star using Coastal Cabana ink in the center of the stars. I cut out two of them and popped them up on dimensionals and added some Frosted Sequins and Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the inside. Then it still needed a bit more to fill in some of the white space so I stamped the tiny star in Lost Lagoon and Baked Brown Sugar inks. It took no time at all!!

Cheerful Tags... and 2nd Doorcrasher specials!!

Good morning!! I have a fun tag to share today - you could use it for a tag (go figure?!) or add it to a card front! Using the 'Note Tag Punch' from the Holiday Catalogue - I punched a bunch of tags from a sheet of Garden Green. I stamped the striped image using Garden Green ink and added some of the Christmas trees to the bottom. I stamped the 'Holiday Cheer' sentiment and punched it out with the Large Oval punch, then a Cherry Cobbler cardstock layer using the Scallop Oval Punch. To finish, I simply added a single Rhinestone and some 1/8" Silver Ribbon and Cherry Cobbler baker's twine for a bow! Quick, cute and easy!!!

I stamped the back with the 'To: and From:' stamp that is also in the Cheerful Tags stamp set!!
