Birthday FISHES by the Tide...

I was so excited when the stamp set By the Tide made the list of stamps that will continue to be available in the Annual Stampin' Up! Catalogue. It is great for masculine cards - and I just love lose little fishes. I never go fishing, but these fishes sure do make great cards.

I paired up the By the Tide and Gorgeous Grunge for this card. I started with a layer of Whisper White card stock, adding the embossing powder before sponging the Night of Navy and Island Indigo. I stamped the fishes with Night of Navy - the ones that I fussy cut out I sponged with Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight to make them pop a bit more. Some fishes are just stamped in the Night of Navy colour because they are supposed to look like they are off in the distance. I used Gorgeous Grunge for the air bubbles that fish make. I did distress the edges of the Night of Navy layer, but since the "Distress Tool" is retired, I just used my paper snips and it worked just fine!

For the sentiments I used the Alphabet Rotary Stamp to create my own greeting "Birthday Fishes"... I thought it was cute.. but one the inside it says "Oops, I mean wishes", even cuter! I had to add some coral and sponging but with a few sea horses instead of fish - no embossing powder this time just to dress up the inside a bit. I hope you like my card, have a wonderful day :)
