Retro freshed out birthday card!

My cold, which I think was a bit of the flu since it's hung around so long is finally (wishful thinking), almost gone! I can't seem to shake this one, it's been over two years since the last time I was sick... and it's making up for lost time! I forced myself to get my garden tidied up, sick and all! I can't waste my time off work just sitting being sick when I had plans to renovate my yard while I was off - I can say that it's nearly done.

I haven't crafted at all this past week - but with the yard work done I will have to set aside some time to play. The card I'm sharing today, I created a while back which features the colours from the 'Retro Fresh suite' in the Occasions catalogue (So Saffron, Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar and Tangerine Tango), I just love this colour combination!! I cut 1/4" strips of cardstock in each of the 4 colours, cut them into small, medium and larger pieces and I attached them to a base piece of cardstock, which did take a while... but I love the fun background that was created so it was worth all the cutting and gluing (love my tombo glue!!).

I embossed with the 'Square Lattice' embossing folder to give the in-laid look I love, the folder is sadly retiring... but I believe it's still available at a discounted price too!? I stamped my sentiment from the 'Remembering your birthday' set, since it has some nice coordinating verses for the insides of cards too! I made the balloons with the 3/4" circle punch and the foot from the owl punch, added some Gold Baker's Twine... and done!
