Just Sayin' Box Card for Mikey

Hello........ it's a lovely spring day today, coincidentally it is my husband Mike's birthday! Lucky ducky he gets all this beautiful sunshine to help him celebrate his special day!! All I got on my birthday was snow, my birthday is in November so what do I expect right?! 

Mikey is a newspaper editor and so I thought it would be appropriate to use the 'Modern Medley' designer series paper to help decorate my box card since it has two designs with a book/newspaperish style (I know that's not a word, but I'm using it anyways!) I always struggle to make 'masculine' cards, but I think this is a pretty masculine looking card, I myself would like this card too... so it could work either way.

I stamped several of the sentiments from the Just sayin' stamp set, and cut them out with the matching 'Word Bubble' framelits. I made several cute owls with the 'Owl Builder punch' and used the Modern Medley DSP again to decorate, just love how everything coordinates so well.



I attached a small piece of cardstock in the same colour as my owls (Soft Suede) and attached them to the card. I then added my sentiment word bubbles, which I attached with pieces of window sheet so they are not so obvious. I did make a matching envelope with my 'Envelope Punch Board', since the embellishments added to the card make it too large to fit in a standard envelope... I just love my EPB!

I took a couple more photos with different views... it looks so interesting at any angle, with all the cute little owls peeking out at you! I love this style of card, it's really simple to create the base of the card, but when you give these cards people think you spent a super long time making them... gotta love that :)

Well, were heading off to Swiss Chalet for his birthday dinner, it's a win-win on birthday's since neither one of us has to cook or do the dishes :)

I hear through the grape-vine... that we are expected to get some more of the 'white stuff' here - since weather seems to be the main topic of conversation for most people... I have heard it quite often, from several different people! You can see the tulips starting to peek their heads out of the once frozen soil in my photos, I hope it, (the snow) doesn't scare them off?! It would be such a shame to get snow after a gorgeous spring day like today, I really hope they're wrong... we'll see?!
