Little letters can say a lot!

Hello... no sun yet today! It feels like it's going to rain - I was hoping to get some gardening done before work, oh well... I guess I'll just have to craft instead?!! Did everyone enjoy Father's Day? I did. I ran our annual Father's Day social at work and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, so that makes me happy. Then we had my Dad over for a barbecue... it was a good day!

Today, I'm sharing the card I made for my Dad using the brand NEW 'Little Letters' diecuts. These cute letters are something I was hoping Stampin' Up! would have in the new catalogue - they didn't disappoint me... they are FABULOUS! They are the perfect size for most sayings and I like the font. When I first saw the catalogue cover, I saw these letters and got excited to see all the other goodies that may be inside!! When I finally got to see the catalogue in person, these letters went right to top of my list of products to order on June 2, 2014 - #1. Now I just need a set of numbers!!

Check out the card I made below...

Here's how I made my card: First I cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock and aligned the "D" and "A", since there is only one of each letter - I added the second "D" after I ran the first two letters through the Big Shot with my Magnetic Platform. I wanted the void part of the diecut - to look like a stencil to create a tab at the top of the card. Then I cut the letters to make the words HAPPY, FATHERS and DAY.

I then cut 1" strips of three of the new in-colours, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist, and Hello Honey - my 3 favourites, coincidence? Nope!! I ran them through my Big Shot with the new 'Tiny Triangles' textured impressions embossing folder - #2 from my list of must haves!! I'm a sucker for geometric lines and shapes!! These funky colours are very 70's, and I like the retro look added with the triangles! I used a 2-way glue pen to adhere my letters, the attached each word to a different colour. The letters fit perfectly since the strips are 1" and the letters are 3/4" high. It still needed something, so I added some hearts from the new 'Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack' and some 'Basic Black Baker's Twine' - which was #3, not specifically black but the new baker's twine colours in general! I didn't realize that I used my favourites until now? I love Baker's Twine, it comes in many colours, it adds a nice effect to projects and the price.... well, you can't beat it! Well, I hope you all have a great Monday and that you like my card!!
