Ombre Stars

Happy Thursday!! I just love getting to play with my new stamping toys - to be creative, and dream up fun ways to use them. One of the first things I absolutely had to have when I saw the new catalogue was the 'Decorative Masks'. They are a stencil, which can be used with Sponge Daubers, or sponges, spritzers, a brayer, stamps, markers or ink pads directly! Whatever your heart desires! These masks are super affordable too, at only $3.95 for TWO!! I'm going to be teaching a Mixed Media art class at my work this weekend and I'm using these stencils for the project. Hopefully my favourite senior peeps will enjoy what I've designed!! Onto my card for today...

I began with a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I then cut a Whisper White layer, which I layered my stencil onto (the stars obviously!). I chose 3 colours of ink and using my sponge dauber made an ombre effect. I then cut 2 squares, 1-1/4"x 1-1/4" of each of my 3 colours. I added each square beside the sponged stars to add more to the ombre effect.

I used the new Lost Lagoon, Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana. I must say how much I love, love, love these colours!! I lined up the stencil with the larger cluster of stars towards the top to make it like it's trickling down the card.
The hi there sentiment is from the new set 'A Happy Hooray', another favourite of mine! It's no coincidence the set contains a hexagon!? I layered the punched hexagon onto a punch out using the 'Label Bracket', which I also love. Go figure right?! I added a piece of the new Coastal Cabana, 'Thick Baker's Twine'. I frayed the ends, since I just love doing that!! That's it, quite simple to create.
