You + Me Swaps

Hello.... Today I'm sharing my swap cards that I recently made for our demonstrator group swap. I was unable to attend the meeting and swap in person, so I have to wait until Friday to see the swaps the other swapper made.

 

All cards are to feature items from the NEW Occasions catalogue and Sale-a-bration brochure. You can check out the cards I made below...

 



 

I decided to make a Valentine's card, but it could also work well for an Anniversary, Mother's Day or Father's Day card. I chose some gender neutral colour for the cards, I really like Bermuda Bay mixed with Real Red... it's a combo that most wouldn't automatically gravitate towards... but something about those colours made me want to make a card with them - they are both so bright and colourful!

 

 

I started by making an ombre stamped background using the Sale-a-bration set 'Best Day Ever'. I love the fun background stamp of dots. I used only Bermuda Bay, stamped once, twice and three times without re-inking. Starting at the bottom, then moving towards the top with the lightest stamped image. I stamped the You + Me from the 'You Plus Me' set. I like that the sentiments can be used for more than just Valentine's Day. I diecut it out using the 'Circles Collection Framelits Dies'. Then coloured the words in with the darkest colour Bermuda Bay Blendabilities Marker, and the medium Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities marker. Then it was to decide how to add the sentiment to the card, so I cut a 2" Circle in both Real Red and Bermuda Bay - cut them in half and added half to one side and one to another.

 

 

For swaps, it's easiest to cut and stamp all the pieces then make an assembly line to attach each piece of the card. It's much quicker too! I used the Hearts border punch and Basic Black cardstock, and matted a piece of Real Red behind it for the hearts to pop more. I used the awesome 'stacked with love' designer paper, the one with the tiny little hearts. For the final touches, I added some Basic Black Baker's Twine, some Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim (sequins removed and scattered within the stamped dots) and one silver glimmered heart to the punched heart trim. I love how it turned out. I hope my fellow swappers liked my card and you like it too! 

 

I had a really cute helper while making my swaps... one of my furr-babies - Winston! My newest kitty, rescued from the cold last fall... I just love him to bits - look at that adorable face :) He is more of a distraction than a helper, but he sure is cute!
